Over the past couple years more and more businesses have made the shift to remote work. This enables full-time travel if you’re the type of person that’s into that. Some people enjoy the comforts of home and are totally okay with being a homebody but for those of you who enjoy traveling and exploring the country then I’ll show you how to make money traveling full-time in 2022.

Utilizing communication tools like Trello, Slack, Skype, and Zoom allow remote workers to communicate without having to go into an office and building your skillset has never been easier with platforms like YouTube, Lynda.com, and Udemy.

For those of you that already have a digital skillset there are plenty of ways to make money traveling full-time. All you really need is an internet connection and a laptop.

Let’s go over a few ways on how to make money traveling full-time in 2022.

START AN AMAZON FBA BUSINESS

Starting your own Amazon FBA business is a great way to make money but it does take some time to get started. You’ll need to choose the right product and a good marketing approach. What’s great about this is that Amazon stores the product in their warehouse so you just need to take care of orders. You can learn more by checking out the beginner’s guide to selling on Amazon.

FREELANCE WRITER

If writing is your passion then you are in luck because freelance writing jobs are plentiful out there. Whatever the topic may be, there’s a need for it somewhere since most businesses are moving online. Website owners hire freelance writers to help with content creation.

There are a number of freelance websites that you can use to find writing jobs.

BECOME AN ENGLISH TEACHER

If you’ve always had a passion for teaching you could try your hand at doing it online. You can find remote English teacher jobs on various job recruiting websites like Indeed and ZipRecruiter.

Another great resource is VIPKid. They recruit teachers to teach 1 on 1 with children in China. Over 70,000 teachers have been recruited by them and you can make $14 to $22 per hour.

START A YOUTUBE CHANNEL

If you think you can create good content that people will enjoy watching then YouTube could be a great way to make some passive income. It will require a lot of work at first since you need to meet their standards of 1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch time hours for monetization but it can certainly pay off in the end.

In order to make a decent amount of money from YouTube you need a large number of views. Even if you have 50,000 subscribers you might only manage to bring in $1,000 per month which isn’t bad but may not be enough to live off from full-time.

Growing a YouTube channel can lead to other revenue avenues as well such as affiliate marketing, selling products, or directing viewers to your Patreon account.

SELL ON FIVERR

If you’re just starting out in the digital world and you have a variety of skills you could sell your services on Fiverr. Fiverr is loaded with a bunch of different services that freelancers provide such as language translation, web design, blog posting, voice overs, and social media management.

The competition is pretty high on Fiverr so you’ll most likely have to set your prices pretty low to start but you could build a nice portfolio to show higher-paying clients in the near future.

START A BLOG

Blogging can be a fantastic long-term business option for making money remotely. If you choose the right niche and consistently blog then it could pay off quite well. Keep in mind that it can take a while before you actually start making money so don’t jump into blogging as your primary source of income at first.

There are bloggers out there that make up to $50,000 per month but keep in mind that they are well-established and get a lot of traffic to their website. A great place to get started is by starting your own WordPress website.

SELL ON EBAY

Everybody has stuff that they need to get rid of and eBay can be great for that. If you’re traveling full-time you could stop at thrift stores or garage sales and buy cheap items and resell them for a profit. If you have a passion for antiques and collectables then this could work out well for you. The only disadvantage is that you’ll need the storage space in your vehicle until you resell.

SELL CRAFTS ON ETSY

You can find some very unique items on Etsy. If you’re creative and like working with your hands then you should give it a go. The possibilities are endless when it comes to products. You could sell custom jewelry, clothing, beard oil, candles, or custom decals. The only limits are your imagination.

BUILD OUT VEHICLES

If you’re familiar with the terms vanlife, buslife, or nomadlife then you’ll know that many vehicle dwellers have custom built rigs. I actually know a few full-time nomads that make a living from designing and building the interior layouts for school buses, vans, box trucks, and even cars.

Right now vanlife builds are in high demand since it has been popularized over the past few years on social media. People pay top-dollar for high quality built out rigs with plumbing, lights, shower systems, solar, and everything else that a person may need living on the road.

WORKAMPING

Many campgrounds all across America pay people to work seasonal jobs and most even let you park there for free. Most jobs are pretty simple and involve maintaining the campground. You may find yourself mowing the grass, managing a gift shop, answering phone calls, cleaning bathrooms, or taking out the trash.

UBER OR LYFT DRIVER

If you’re towing a car with your RV you could put that car to some good use by using it as an independent taxi. If you’re traveling full-time you could settle in various locations for short periods of time and make some extra cash flow with Uber or Lyft.

This method may not make you enough money to live off from but its a great way to make a little extra cash flow on the side.

SELL STOCK PHOTOS

There are multiple ways to make money if you’re an established photographer and one of those ways is from selling your photos online. There are plenty of different stock image websites that you can upload your photos to. Every time one of your images are sold you get a percentage of the profits.

I have personally used Shutterstock but you can also use Adobe Stock Images, Getty Images, iStock, and 123RF. I wouldn’t expect making a full-time income from selling stock images though since the competition is rather high. It is, however, a good way to make a little cash on the side.

CRAIGSLIST

You can find a bunch of different odd jobs on Craigslist from time to time. It’s great because you can find them in almost every city in the United States. You can find ads in Craigslist for dog sitting, moving furniture, painting, photo shoots, and even movie shoots. You can find a plethora of odd jobs on Craigslist so if you’re a full-time traveler this would be a good way on how to make money traveling full-time in 2022.

SPONSORSHIP DEALS

Luckily nowadays you don’t need a huge following or millions of views to get sponsorships. As long as you have a decent following within a specific niche then you could land a good deal. If you put out good content that relates to a specific topic such as digital nomads then you could potentially get sponsored by a laptop company.

A company that sells laptops could sponsor an Instagram post of yours since you appeal to people that work remotely from their laptops.

SELL AN ONLINE COURSE

Selling an online course is a great way to make passive income. What’s great about this is that after you finish the course no more work is needed. You can just sit back and collect money every time someone buys it.

If you have a specific skillset you can share that with the world. It could be yoga, poetry, primitive living, guitar, web design, cryptocurrency, or even a tutorial on how to make a Wi-Fi jammer. There are lots of eager people to learn out there and your course could be a money-maker. You can publish your courses on websites like Teachable, Skiilshare, Udemy, and Thinkific.

BUILD WEBSITES

You don’t have to be an expert coder to make a website since there are web builders out there. If you are experienced with web builders then you could make some decent money on the road.

Since everything is moving online there is a need for people who know how to make websites. Platforms such as Shopify, WordPress, Squarespace, and Wix are just a few to name. Small businesses from all over are in need of websites or even website managers so if you have the skill you should give it a try.

CRYPTOCURRENCY

Cryptocurrency is relatively new and it seems to be booming. There have been many people who have become rich from investing in cryptocurrency. If you have knowledge of trading bitcoin or other cryptocurrencies then this could be a good way on how to make money traveling full-time in 2022.

Keep in mind that it is risky because the price of crypto can change dramatically so you could end up loosing money. Investing in cryptocurrency is more of a long-term gain so I wouldn’t count on it for a regular income but if you have extra cash laying around it is possible to make short-term gains.

MODELING

If you are a photogenic person then modeling could be a revenue maker for you. Modeling gigs might be hard to find but if you do your research you might get lucky. If you have a strong social media presence you could do well in this field. A high follower count on Instagram could lead to sponsorships or advertising.

AMAZON CAMPERFORCE

Amazon offers seasonal jobs to vehicle dwellers so if you’re looking to make some quick cash for just a couple months worth of work this may be a good opportunity. Job duties usually involve picking, packing, and shipping orders to customers. They offer $120 weekly for campground expenses as well.

NATIONAL PARKS

If you’re a nature lover then you should highly consider a job at a national park. They offer both seasonal jobs and temporary jobs. Jobs can involve cleaning, running a cash register, giving tours, or landscape architecture.

If you’ve been to a national park before then you know how much beauty there is to look at. Seasonal jobs tend to be in the spring, summer, and fall months. It would be a pretty rad way to make money while enjoying the scenery at a national park.

CUSTOMER SERVICE REP

Customer service jobs are plentiful and the great thing is that all you need is a laptop and a good internet connection. You could work for a contractor or work for a company. You can find these types of jobs on job recruiter websites like Indeed, ZipRecruiter, and Flexjobs.

SELL PLASMA

You can make a surprisingly decent amount of money by donating your plasma. This isn’t something that most travelers do but if you’re in need of some quick cash this could be a good option since some places give you anywhere from $25 to $60 per donation.

Plasma is different than a standard blood donation and it can be time consuming which is why they pay you for it.

DJ

I’ve met a number of DJ’s on the road and they make a good amount of money playing events from state to state. Events range from birthday parties, concerts, weddings, fundraisers, and holiday events. This only disadvantage is that you usually have to haul a bunch of equipment with you. If you already have a good reputation and an online presence you’ll do much better at finding gigs.

ONLINE SURVEYS

Online surveys aren’t meant to be a primary source of income but rather a little spending money for gas or something. Online surveys have been around for years but it’s tricky to find reputable ones. Some of the bigger ones are Swagbucks, Inboxdollars, Lifepoints, Global Test Market, My Survey, Survey Junkie, i-Say, Harris Poll Online, VIP Voice, MyPoints, and Vindale Research.

JOBSTACK

JobStack is a mobile app and online portal that connect people and work. You can find short-term, flexible jobs in areas all across the country which is great for nomads. You can find security guard jobs, grocery store reset jobs, housekeeping jobs, construction jobs, driving jobs, and general labor jobs. This list goes on. All you need to do is search for jobs in your area and apply.

LOGO DESIGNER

Logo’s are in high demand as more people start their own businesses. If you’re creative and have Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator skills then you could easily tap into this market. You would need to get yourself established first with a nice portfolio though. You could obtain jobs from freelancer websites or even Craigslist.

POSTMATES

For all you full-time travelers that tow a vehicle or have a motorcycle you could make some money by delivering food with Postmates. The hours are flexible and you can deliver in almost every major city in the United States. The app allows people to order food from grocery stores, restaurants, and it even lets them order personal items. This service is similar to Uber Eats if you’re familiar with it.

HOUSE SITTING

If you’ve been traveling a while and want a little break you could stay at a nice cozy home making money house sitting. Unfortunately all house sitting gigs aren’t paid. Some only offer the house to stay in and the amenities. Without a good reputation or references it might be difficult to land house sitting jobs though. If you have the experience and like getting off the road every once in a while then this could be a good option for you.

MOBILE BIKE REPAIR

We all know that many of us travelers enjoy cycling and that means that there are opportunities to make money for travelers that are skilled in bike repair. Vanlifers, buslifers, and RV dwellers commonly use bikes as another mode of transportation and for recreational use. There is a growing popularity amongst electric bikes as well so if you know how to repair those then this could be a good way on how to make money traveling full-time in 2022.

STREET PERFORMER

Street performing has been around for ages and it still works well for making a little extra cash when you need it the most. If you sing, play guitar, mix music, do magic tricks, or perform acrobatics then street performing could be your thing. The great thing about street performing is that you can do it traveling city to city. Be aware that certain areas have restrictions or laws that prohibit it though.

TRANSCRIPTION

A transcriptionist listens to audio and transcribes it. If you enjoy working with computers and are looking for an easy job that pays pretty good then you should look into it. This is a pretty common remote job and the only requirements are a laptop and an internet connection. Many of these types of jobs can be found on job recruiter websites or freelancer websites.

RETAIL WORK

You can find seasonal retail jobs all over the place and it usually involves stocking product, customer service, folding clothes, setting up shelves, and stocking them. You can find these types of jobs in malls, grocery stores, shoe stores, clothing stores, and even small touristy gift shops.
